Promoter probe vectors

DESCRIPTION:
A simple assay using artificial plasmid that enables insertion of DNA fragments (potential cis-regulatory sequences) before reporter gene. Plasmids have been constructed and used for the detection and analysis of signals that control transcription of reporter gene. The rate of expression of reporter genes correlate with ability of cloned DNA fragment to initiate transcription. Commonly used reporters are chloramphenicol acetyltransferase (CAT), β-lactamase, β-galactosidase, β-glucuronidase, alkaline phosphatase, luciferase and green fluorescent protein (GFP). The activity of reporter gene product is measured with appropriate biochemical test.
